Harvest Home has been kicking around so long that a Long Island painter named William Sidney Mount, better known for his genre canvases than his fiddle playing, had it jotted down in his personal manuscripts back in the 1840s. It was untitled and in A major, tucked between a couple of other hornpipes. This melody was just floating in the air, possibly too common to even bother naming. However, it did a lot of travelling. Across Ireland it was called the Cork Hornpipe, in Ohio it became the Cincinnati Hornpipe, and a Scottish fiddler recorded it for Edison on a wax cylinder in 1909.
