Bride's a Bonnie thing traces back to a single recording session on July 11, 1929, when a pair of New Mexico cattle ranchers named Dempson and Denmon Lewis walked into a studio in El Paso and cut exactly four sides for Victor Records. They only got there because an entrepreneurial woman who ran local dances introduced them to Victor's A&R man, and "Bull at the Wagon" turned out to be their most famous tune. The melody spread partly through Oklahoma fiddler Earl Collins, who picked it up from the brothers' 78 and put his own stamp on the A-part. It's also a three-parter — A, B, and C — which gives you a bit more to chew on than your typical two-part reel, so enjoy that extra section when it rolls around.

This page includes mandolin tablature, standard music notation, and a chord chart — printable as PDF and playable in sync with the original recording. Change the key, slow the tempo down, and loop the bars you want to practise.
